How do you determine the appropriate sock size for kids?

Sock sizes may be determined by the child's age range or by measurements of their feet. These measurements include the foot circumference, sock height and total foot length.

There are several steps needed to measure sock sizes for kids.

1. Measure circumference

Wrap the measuring tape around the widest part of the foot.

2. Measure the sock height

Put a sock that does fit on the kid's foot. Hold the measuring tape from the bottom of the foot to the top of the sock.

3. Measure foot length

Run the measuring tape from the back of the heel to the tip of the longest toe. This is along the bottom of the foot.

4. Look up the measurements

Check these measurements against the numbers in a sock sizing chart. The chart may also list the expected children's age ranges for each sock size.
