What is glitter acrylic powder?

Glitter acrylic powder is a sparkly powder nail technicians add to regular polishes to create shimmering effects. It consists of a glitter substance mixed with a clear or chocolate-colored acrylic powder.

In practice, professional nail technicians may premix the combination of acrylic polish with the acrylic glitter powder or add it as a second step when loading the brush for application. When premixing, it is important to achieve the correct ratio of glitter to acrylic, making sure there is more polymer than glitter. Once mixed with the liquid acrylic and applied to the nail, many technicians also encapsulate the layer in clear acrylic for added strength.
