Anne Frank was in hiding for a total of 25 months. She and her family went into hiding in July 1942 and were found by the Nazis on Aug. 4, 1944.
Anne's family went into hiding after receiving a letter that ordered a member of the family to report to a work camp that was under German control. The family hid in an apartment attic in Amsterdam, which was occupied by the Nazi army at the time. When the family members were found, they were sent to concentration camps. Anne died at one of these camps in 1945. The only member of the Frank family to survive was Anne's father.
