Is popping pimples bad?

Popping a pimple can be very detrimental to your skin, and can even make things worse, says WebMD. Pimples occur when excess oils, bacteria and skin cells clog up a pore creating a small sac, or pustule, on the skin.
Left on its own, a pimple will only last 3 to 7 days. If a pimple is popped improperly it can last much longer and may cause scarring. When you poke or squeeze a pimple, the infected material inside the pustule can be pushed further into the dermis. Alternatively, when the material does release externally, the material can spread and infect other pores, causing more breakouts.
