Bed bugs generally lay their eggs on rough surfaces, cracks and crevices. The eggs are coated with a sticky substance so that they can adhere to the surface. Bed bugs typically lay the eggs close to their food source.

Bed bugs generally feed during the evening and hide during the day. Because they feed on humans, they are likely to lay eggs near furniture such as a beds, couches or chairs. They feed by piercing their beak through the skin and sucking the blood.

Eggs hatch within 6 to 17 days. The newly-hatched beg bugs, referred to as nymphs, start feeding immediately.
