What do bed bugs look like?

Adult bed bugs can be seen with the naked eye and are almost white to brown in color, although they redden after feeding. Bed bugs' bodies are small, flat and oval in shape. They are wingless and grow to about 0.2 inches in length.

Bed bugs are insects that feed exclusively on blood. They live up to 10 months and are able to go weeks without feeding. Bed bug bites sometimes produce itchy, red welts, but many leave no mark at all and go unnoticed. These insects hide in tiny cracks and crevices and are easily transported in clothing and luggage to previously uninfested locations.
