What is the link between earlobe creases and heart disease?

Medical experts observe a link between creases in a person's earlobe and the risk of heart disease, explains Healthline. The crease is known as Frank's sign. Theories suggest that the crease appears when tissue around the capillaries degenerates. This indicates that larger arteries and veins around the heart are damaged.
Some studies find that people who had died of cardiovascular diseases did have a diagonal crease on their ears, states Healthline. This was the finding after the age, sex, height and other diseases had been taken into account. However, the ear crease in some ethnic groups, such as Native Americans, did not correlate with cardiovascular disease.
