The United States covers approximately 3,717,792 square miles. The country is the third largest when it comes to area, behind only Russia and Canada.
Around 3,536,000 square miles of the U.S. is composed of land while the rest is water. The U.S. is roughly half the size of Russia and just slightly larger than Brazil. The largest city in the country is New York and the capital is Washington, D.C. The U.S. shares a border with both Canada and Mexico. It is also bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico on the east and south. It also borders the Pacific Ocean on the West Coast.
