How big is a weaver's beam?

A weaver's beam, or warp beam, varies in size depending on the design and size of the loom it fits. A warp beam is the part of a loom where the warp ends are placed when preparing to weave.
The size of a weaver's beam is often questioned because of the biblical reference to the size of Goliath's spear. Its thickness was likened to a weaver's beam, which was approximately 2 to 2 1/2 inches in diameter based off the looms used in that period. Looms have been in use for thousands of years and have evolved in size, shape and use.
