Why was Billy Fuccillo arrested?

Billy Fuccillo had not been arrested as of August 2015. In 2012, rumors circulated that Fuccillo, owner of multiple auto dealerships in New York and Florida, had been arrested by the FBI. Fuccillo denied those rumors in a Syracuse Post Standard article.

Fuccillo’s business faced a lawsuit and agreed to pay a $1.6 million settlement to customers of 18 of his New York auto dealerships. The class action lawsuit was brought by Heidi Seekmap, an Albany woman, on behalf of customers who bought a theft protection package when purchasing a car from a Fuccillo dealership. The lawsuit claimed that the protection plan was unlawful because it was not administered by a licensed insurance company.
