The changing of the seasons is best viewed in the temperate forest. This biome has deciduous trees with leaves that change color in autumn and fall to the ground during winter.
Most of Europe, parts of Asia and parts of the United States and Canada have temperate forests. The temperate forest biome has four distinct seasons, all with varying temperatures. Native plants include shrubs, mosses, ferns, flowers, conifers and deciduous trees. This biome is also home to many different animals, from tiny insects to large mammals. Because temperatures change from one season to the next, some of these animals have special adaptations to help them survive when it is extremely hot or cold.
