What is Bluetooth used for?

Bluetooth is a radio-wave technology that allows electronic devices to communicate over short distances. People use Bluetooth to sync personal devices. For example, people can use Bluetooth to connect a wireless mouse to a computer or link a hands-free headset to a cellphone.

Bluetooth devices can detect and connect to up to eight devices at a time. Each pair of devices uses a unique channel, so they don't interfere with one another. When two or more devices share information, they form a network called a piconet. One device acts as the controller of the piconet, while the others obey its instructions.
