People incorrectly assume the Dead Sea has the highest salt content of any body of water in the world because its salinity is so high that it cannot support life. In truth, the Dead Sea has a salinity of 33.7 percent.

Salt water is denser than fresh water. That means that any person can easily float in the water of these salty lakes and seas. Areas like Don Juan Pond and the Dead Sea are being studied as part of medicinal research and it has been discovered that these bodies of water are too salty to freeze.
