Dewey Lambdin is the writer of the "Alan Lewrie" series of nautical adventure books. The first book of this series, titled "The King's Coat," was published in 1989. The series consists of more than 20 novels, following the adventures of the eponymous hero during various historical naval events.

Lambin is an American writer and son of a U.S. Navy officer. He published his first story in 1963 while a student at the University of Tennessee, where he studied liberal arts and theatre. Lambdin is a member of the U.S. Naval Institute and a Friend of the National Maritime Museum, and he spends his spare time sailing.
