Dicamba is not often used to treat weeds alone, and is usually mixed with another chemical. It is most often used to control difficult weeds and heavy brush. If sprayed too closely, products with Dicamba can damage small trees. The chemical works by mimicking a naturally occuring hormone in plants, making weeds grow faster than their nutrient supplies, causing the plant to die. Some methods of applying herbicides with dicamba include ground and aerial broadcast, injection, soil treatment and spot treatment.
