What breed is a cur dog?

Mountain curs are a breed often referred to as "cur dogs." Mountain curs typically weigh between 30 and 60 pounds and stand up to 26 inches tall. They are most often yellow, brindle or black, with wide-set eyes and small ears.

Mountain curs are known to be very protective over their properties and human families. Mountain curs need a lot of exercise and are happiest when they have a job to do. Because they are intelligent, courageous and tough, they are often used as hunting dogs. These dogs assist hunters in hunting everything from squirrels to bear and stand their ground even when confronted with an angry mountain lion.
