As of 2015, the value of a buffalo nickel was at least 10 cents, making it more valuable than a regular nickel. The value of buffalo nickels ranges from about $3.50 for a 1913 Type 1 up to about $3,600 for an uncirculated 1926 S coin.

Buffalo nickels differ from standard nickels in that they feature the profile of a Native American on one side of the coin and a buffalo on the opposite side.

An "S" denotes coins minted in San Francisco. Coins were also minted in Denver and Philadelphia. The condition of the coin is graded on a scale of good, fine, extra fine or uncirculated.
