To make a shoe rack, first cut wood for the sides and toe rest. Measure and drill holes for the dowel rods. Finally, spray paint the shoe rack, if desired.
- Gather all the necessary materials
To make a shoe rack, you need a poplar board, two straight poplar boards, two dowel rods, wood screws, a power screwdriver, drill bits, measuring tape, a miter saw and spray paint, including primer.
- Cut the wood
Before cutting out the wood for the shoe rack, measure the space in which you plan to put it, such as a closet. Use a 3/4-inch-by-8-inch poplar board, and cut two pieces. Maintain a minimum of 16 inches for shoe tiers. Next, cut out the toe rest using your straight poplar boards.
- Install the shoe rack
Before you drill, measure the placement of the dowel rod by using a shoe for guidance. Next, use your drill to drill pilot holes for the toe rack. Use a larger drill bit for the dowel rod. Use wood screws to place the toe rack and the dowel rod. If you want to paint the shoe rack, first apply a spray primer before finally spraying painting with the color of choice. Allow to dry thoroughly before using the shoe rack.
