Low-voltage wires are generally buried at a depth of at least 6 inches, while high voltage wires are buried up to 24 inches deep. The conduit installed with the wiring should be appropriate for the wire depth. For instance, at 18 inches deep, install PVC conduit with THWN-2 conductors. For wire buried 6 inches deep, use a metal conduit with waterproof electrical wiring.
