According to AZ Law Help, a 17-year-old cannot move out of his parents' home without permission in Arizona. A 17-year-old who leaves his parents' home without permission can be found to be an "incorrigible" child, facing fines, probation or community service.
Law For Kids points out that a 16- or 17-year-old in Arizona can try to become emancipated from his parents. To become emancipated, a child must show that he can live independently as an adult. Parents are allowed to object to a child's attempted emancipation, but the court makes the final determination. As AZ Law Help explains, if a child runs away, Child Protective Services is likely to become involved in the case, especially if the child is engaged in harmful or dangerous behavior.
