Previous years' instructions for form 1040A can be found online on the official Internal Revenue Service website, as of 2015. The 1040A is commonly used by taxpayers who do not have deductions such as property taxes, state income tax or mortgage interest that can be claimed on a 1040 form.
From the Internal Revenue Service main page, click on the Prior Year Forms & Pubs section of the website. Type the year alongside 1040a in the Find box and click the Find button. A list of available instructions appears on the page. Choose the version of the form for which instructions are needed, and click the link. Depending on the Web browser settings, the file either opens in a new browser window or a Save dialog box appears on the screen, in which case the file can be saved in PDF format.
