Can adults get measles?

Adults can get measles, according to WebMD. When adults get measles, they often feel worse than children who are afflicted with measles. Most adults born before 1957 have had measles and do not need to be vaccinated.

Adults born in 1957 or after who have not had the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine should be given at least one dose of the vaccine, recommends Vaccines.gov. College or trade school students, hospital or medical staff, people who travel internationally or who plan to travel via cruise ship, and all women of childbearing age should have two doses of the vaccine administered 28 days apart.
