As of 2015, some places to find free animated fantasy backgrounds include DreamScene.org and DesktopNexus.com. Both of these websites allow users to download the backgrounds, rate them and leave comments about the wallpapers.

DreamScene.org offers more than six pages of fantasy scenes to download for use as wallpaper. These include a beach scene, a wizard, a massive tree and a red sphere, as of 2015. Each of these wallpapers is available to preview before downloading it.

At DesktopNexus.com, there are more than 200 fantasy scenes to use as a background. These scenes include women, cities in the skies, and dragons. After selecting a scene, a user can click on the photo to download the file.
