Kohl's provides an online application for customers attempting to open a Kohl's credit account. After approval, credit card holders receive additional benefits, such as a 20 percent discount on the first purchase, a 15 percent off coupon mailed with the card and 12 special discounts per year, according to Kohl's.

In her application, the prospective cardholder must provide her name, Social Security number, address, banking information, address history and work history, explains Kohl's. The processing time for an online application is generally around 60 seconds. If an application requires additional information or a more detailed look, it takes a little longer to process.
