It is possible to get blood clots in your feet from thrombocythemia or thrombocytosis, according to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. If blood clots form in the tiny blood vessels of the feet, it makes the feet numb and red.
Intense burning and throbbing may occur in the soles of the feet, says the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. Primary thrombocythemia most often causes blood clots in the brain, hands and feet, though blood clots can also occur in other parts of the body. Other symptoms of blood clots include seizures, upper body discomfort, nausea, shortness of breath and changes in speech or awareness of surroundings.
