Can a ceiling fan with a remote be hard wired to a switch?

A ceiling fan with a remote can be wired to a standard wall switch. Before attempting to wire the ceiling fan, the homeowner should ensure that the breaker controlling the switch is disabled to prevent accidental injury.
Older ceiling fans can be used with remote controls by purchasing an aftermarket remote kit. The kit typically installs inside the upper canopy of the fan beneath the ceiling plate. Homeowners should match the wires of the remote kit to those of the ceiling fan, and use a twist-on connector to wire them together. Once the fan is wired properly, the breaker can safely be turned back on.
