What can you clean old vinyl records with?

Clean old records with warm distilled water and a lint-free cloth. When records are very dirty, a small amount of isopropyl alcohol or a few drops of dish detergent may be stirred in to make a gentle cleaning solution.
Before washing a record, spin it on a turntable while holding a carbon fiber brush gently against the vinyl surface. This reduces the static charge that causes dust to cling to vinyl. Do not force the brush into the grooves.
Fill a bowl or sink with warmed distilled water. Don't use hot water, and don't saturate the record label. Dip a microfiber cloth or piece of an old T-shirt into the warm water, and wipe the record surface with firm, circular strokes.
For superior results, use a vinyl record vacuum cleaning machine to remove grit and grime from grooves. This is an especially effective method for cleaning large record collections.
