How can you convert HDMI to a coaxial cable?

Converting a TV signal carried over coaxial to one carried on an HDMI cable requires a digital TV tuner with coaxial inputs and HDMI outputs. Coaxial signals are different from those used for HDMI connections and often require significant conversion to function correctly.

The use of coaxial cable to carry analog television signals makes it difficult to directly convert the signal carried by a coaxial cable to an HDMI signal since HDMI uses a digital signal format. Even though digital broadcasting and cable still use coaxial cables, most equipment with HDMI inputs is not equipped to handle these types of signals and cannot handle tasks such as switching channels.
