Can I convert an oil furnace to a gas furnace?

It is possible to convert a house's heating system from using an oil furnace to a gas furnace by purchasing the new equipment. As of 2015, a typical gas furnace is generally cheaper when compared to an oil furnace, with prices being over 50 percent lower.
When converting to a gas furnace, however, additional equipment is necessary, such as an underground gas connection and minor house renovations. A conversion to a gas furnace also requires the proximity of a gas main near the property. While a lot of urban and suburban areas are fitted with a gas main, not all areas may have them.
