Non-ethnic hair can be braided in cornrows. While these braids are often historically recognized as an African American hairstyle, cornrows can be woven into hair with any type of texture. They gained popularity among the white culture after Bo Derek wore the hairstyle in the movie "10."

Cornrows are braids that are woven close to the scalp, traditionally in straight rows that resemble corn fields. Sometimes the braids are decorated with beads or shells. When the twists are well maintained, they can often be left in for weeks at a time. Depending on the culture and region of the world, cornrows are wore by both men and women.
