Where can the crankshaft sensor be found in an engine?
By Forinfos - 27/09/2025 - 0 comments
The crankshaft position sensor location varies between make, model and engine style but is typically located on the front of the engine on the timing cover. Locating the crankshaft pulley and looking for a sensor that is directly behind the pulley is an optional method also.
The crankshaft pulley location may vary depending on the vehicle, but it is typically the largest pulley at the bottom of the engine. The type of sensor can vary between pickup coil, hall-effect or optical designs. Every style has a wiring harness attached to it that should assist in its location. The number of pins on the harness will depend on the make and model year of the automobile.
