Can you view a database of jail inmates?
By Forinfos - 26/01/2026 - 0 comments
The Federal Bureau of Prisons maintains a searchable database of inmates on its official website. Visitors can search for inmates using either the name or inmate number. This database contains only records of Federal inmates, but most states maintain individual databases on their own correctional websites.
Records available on Federal inmates only date back to 1982. For information on inmates before 1982, an official request can be made to the National Archives Records Administration. To receive additional information on inmates, not provided by the database, a Freedom of Information request can be sent to the office of the Freedom of Information Act.
