Can you grow strawberries in a greenhouse?

Strawberries can be grown easily in greenhouses provided the right conditions are met. The plants need plenty of light and rich, well-drained soil as well as protection from slugs and fungal diseases.

Strawberries do exceptionally well when planted in hanging baskets outside, and the same is true when they are grown in a greenhouse. The baskets keep them high enough up so that slugs cannot access them, and they also receive enough aeration when grown in hanging baskets to reduce chances of developing fungal conditions.

Growing strawberries in baskets also helps to control the runners that they put out. The strawberry plants still put out the runners, but they have nowhere to take root. This allows the grower to enjoy fresh strawberries long after their usual season has ended.
