Can a MCS-150 form be updated online?

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration allows and encourages carriers to update their MCS-150 forms online, according to the agency's official site. The FMCSA requires all motor carriers operating in interstate or foreign commerce to complete the MCS-150 form, the Motor Carrier Identification Report.

To file the MCS-150 form online, carriers need information including a USDOT number, a PIN number, an employer identification number and information on company officials. The FMCSA can send a PIN number by mail or email.

J. J. Keller's Business Services advises carriers to keep their Form MCS-150 updated, since incorrect information can affect safety performance scores and result in higher insurance rates. Companies must update their information at least every two years.
