Can you get a new phone and keep a Verizon unlimited data plan?

It is possible to get a new phone and hang on to Verizon's unlimited data plan. To do so, customers must buy a new phone at full retail price.
Verizon's unlimited data plan is slowly being phased out to make room for the MORE Everything Plan. Customers wanting to keep unlimited data cannot do so when they buy a new phone at a discounted price, and must pay the full retail price for their next cell phone in order to keep their existing data plan. Those who choose to upgrade at a discounted rate will have to add a standalone data package to their voice plan or purchase the MORE Everything Plan.
