Macy's Promo Alerts can be sent to phones and mobile devices by SMS, MMS or through the Macy's mobile app. Customers can opt in by logging into their My Macy's accounts online. It is also possible to receive these notifications by email. Macy's sends no more than three notifications per week.

Macy's also advertises many of its sales in advance on television and radio, as well as through newspapers. The chain also features current sales on its website.
