Where can quick release plates be purchased?

Quick release plates can be found online at photography supply sites such as Really Right Stuff or more generic sites like Amazon; quick release plates can also be found at a local high end photography shop. Make sure that the purchased quick release plate is compatible with the tripod head and that the plate fits securely onto the camera or telephoto lens.

When mounting a camera with a telephoto lens it is better to mount the lens to the tripod with a lens plate. Doing this will allow the camera to be changed between landscape and portrait freely as well as allowing stability when shooting at other angles.
