Can you remove scratches from bonded leather?

Unlike genuine leather made from whole pieces of material, scratches can not be removed from bonded leather. Bonded leather is reconstituted leather, made of leather fibers blended and bonded together, applied to a backing material, and covered with a polyurethane coating.
In many cases, a scratch will allow the backing material to show through. The item will need to be re-upholstered, patched, or replaced. Bonded leather is typically a cheaper alternative than genuine leather, and it may be made from low-quality leather fibers. This can result in more damage that's harder to repair.
To keep bonded leather in good condition, it should be cleaned and conditioned on a regular basis.
