Kitchen sink repairs such as replacing the spray hose, fixing a leaking faucet and replacing the basket strainer can be completed without the assistance of a plumber. Each of these repairs requires the purchase of new parts or fixtures.
A non-professional can install a new sprayer hose using a pair of adjustable pliers, with a towel and bucket available to catch excess water. A leaky faucet can also be fixed without the assistance of a plumber through installation of a new diverter and o-rings. Basket strainers can also be replaced without the aid of a professional. Replacing a basket strainer requires tools to dissemble and reassemble the basket, as well as plumber's putty or non-water-based silicone to attach the new strainer.
