Through the official website of the U.S. Social Security Administration, you can sign up for an online account. You need the following requirements to sign up for an account: a Social Security number, a valid email address, and a U.S.mailing address. You also must be at least 18 years old.

According to secure.ssa.gov, you can create an account using your personal information for your own use only. You are not allowed to create an online account on behalf of another individual or using another individual’s personal information or identity, even if you have that individual’s written consent. If you defy the terms and conditions of this service, you may face criminal or civil penalties, or both.
