Can students get discounts at dentistry clinics?

Dentistry clinics attached to universities with dental programs frequently offer discounts to students at the same institution. As an example, Boston university offers a student discount program that combines several discounts and benefits for all of its students at its Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine.

Boston's student offering includes a free initial appointment including screening and X-rays, and a 10-percent discount on all other treatments. Dental students provide the treatments under the supervision of licensed dentists. Virginia Commonwealth University is another institution that offers a specific student dental program that also trains its student dentists.

Many dental schools offer affordable appointments and treatments performed by dental students in training, but these are often open to the public rather than being specific to students from that institution. There is no reason for students not to use these services, however.
