Township and range maps are available on GeoCommunicator.gov and on EarthPoint.us. GeoCommunicator displays a map depicting the U.S. Public Land Survey System, while EarthPoint overlays this map onto Google Earth images to provide a more detailed and realistic view.

The Public Land Survey System (PLSS) is a way of subdividing and describing land in the United States. The system uses surveys to divide land into rectangular parcels called townships that each measure six square miles. Each survey begins at a specific point called a meridian. The township and range description refers to the location or distance, as measured in six-mile increments, of the township in relation to the meridian.
