You can treat pubic lice with an over-the-counter anti-lice shampoo, advises WebMD. After treatment with the shampoo, all eggs should be removed from hair shafts using tweezers or a fine-toothed comb.

Before applying any over-the-counter treatment, wash the affected area and towel dry, recommends the Centers for Disease Control. After treatment, only wear clean underwear. To kill any lice or nits still on clothing, towels or bedding, machine-wash and dry these items. Hot water and a hot dryer cycle should be used for washing. Repeat treatment in nine to 10 days if lice is still found. Individuals with pubic lice should also be assessed for other sexually transmitted diseases, and any sexual partners they have had in the past month should be notified of possible infection.
