Can you use epsom salts to treat acne?

There is no conclusive evidence and little to no research to support the use of Epsom salt to treat acne, so it is not officially recommended by dermatologists. However, some alternative medicine practitioners promote its use in acne treatment.
Proponents of Epsom salt for acne claim that magnesium found in the salt may contribute to promoting skin health, though they admit these claims are speculative. Some claim that Epsom salt is an anti-inflammatory and that it purges toxins from the skin, exfoliates, dries skin or kills bacteria. Treatments recommended by alternative medicine practitioners include adding the salt to cleansing creams, making a water solution with it or soaking in a salt bath.
