Where can you find a vehicle's gross weight?

The gross weight rating of a vehicle is listed on the manufacturer's sticker, which is located on the post of the driver-side door. This figure is the manufacturer's maximum designated weight limit, and it prevents the vehicle from being overloaded.

The maximum weight consists of the net weight of the vehicle, fuel and cargo along with the passengers and their belongings. A trailer's tongue weight is also added, but the weight of a trailer isn't calculated into this figure. The maximum capacity of a vehicle is calculated by removing the vehicle's net weight from the manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating.
