Can visitors take alcohol into Mexico?

Visitors can take up to 3 liters of liquor and 6 liters of wine into Mexico without paying taxes and duties. More can be taken into the country, but will need to be declared.
Besides alcohol, visitors can take a number of other things into Mexico. Up to $10,000 in United States currency is allowed, as is up to 20 cartons of cigarettes or 20 cigars. Two dogs or cats and their necessities can be taken across the border and most medical supplies are allowed. If a visitor is taking psychotropic drugs, a prescription much be presented at the time of entry into Mexico.
