Can you get warts inside your nose?

Warts can occur inside the nose, although they are more commonly found on the fingers and feet. Warts that grow inside the nose or the sinuses are called nasal papillomas. They are bumpy in appearance and can sometimes develop into squamous cell carcinomas.

Because of the slight risk of cancer, most nasal papillomas should be surgically removed. Warts are caused by infection with a human papillomovirus. Warts usually appear three to four months after infection. The immune system attacks the virus causing the wart and usually eventually destroys it. Most warts go away on their own within two years. They can be removed by freezing or surgery if desired.
