Furthermore, WebMD states that warts are more likely to affect children than adults. Warts cannot be entirely prevented, but regular washing of hands is recommended in addition to keeping the skin moisturized and free of wounds. Salicylic acid is an effective treatment which can be done at home. Warts may disappear without treatment, although the process can take up to years.
