Cape Coral is located in Lee County, Florida, bordering the Caloosahatchee River. The city lies on a peninsula, approximately nine miles west of Fort Myers, 18 miles southeast of Pine Island and 157 miles northwest of Miami. It is accessible to motorists via Interstate 75 and U.S. Hwy 41.
Two bridges connect Cape Coral and Fort Myers: the Cape Coral Bridge and the Midpoint Memorial Bridge. In addition, Southwest Florida International Airport is just 14 miles away.
The city features over 400 miles of canals, the most of any city in the world, including many that have access to the Gulf of Mexico. As of the 2010 census, Cape Coral was the 11th largest city in Florida with a population of 154,305.
