What is car detailing?

Car detailing is a deep cleaning of the interior and exterior of a vehicle that involves special tools. Dealerships normally detail a used car before putting it on sale. People who want their cars detailed can go to car shops where such services are performed or detail their own vehicles.

Detailing is distinct from a basic cleaning in that detailing includes getting at the dirt and grime ground into a car's floor or paint. The tools and cleaning products used are supposed to protect the paint and surface of the car. Minor repairs are sometimes included with an auto-detailing service.
